This is Randel. Notice how he forces himself to smile. But I like this fair-skinned little boy though he seldom smiles. He is the four-year-old boy who does not go out of the house dirty or untidy. He is the little boy called ‘kagawad‘ because his daddy is a kagawad ng barangay. You can see him clinging always to his daddy. And when his daddy (while playing mah jong) tells him to go home, he would reply, “Umuwi ka muna, uuwi rin ako.”
He was once afflicted with the Kawasaki syndrome, also a deadly disease of young children not older than 5. I remember it is also an expensive disease because a child cannot be treated without spending lots of money for the treatment. I cannot erase the thought from my mind if the disease caused him this difficulty to smile willingly.
