An insult to the intellect

At work, there are people who assume too much.  They assume that they have that exclusive dominion to ideas and opinions.  They must be thinking that being in their posts gives them the right and privilege to think they are the only ones who can think right for the organization.

Without them knowing, the people around them know that they are playing. They can only assume but they are not the only ones who can think unconventionally or uniquely from a new perspective.  It is truly an insult to the intellect to see such insensitivity in individuals who are even in posts that require sensibility.

There must be a reason to the chaos.   It is more about selfish motives. Or it may simply be a front or a camouflage.

Godlike Persona

The seminar/course was over. It was enjoyable and a valuable tool to clarify what we currently have for the management system and for the procedures. There is a phrase that got stuck in my head and it is the phrase “Godlike persona”. The lecturer used it to describe how some would perceive the auditors under me when performing the audit procedure.

Auditors are not only ones who can have that kind of persona. Anyone can have that persona. Once the feel gets into a system, one may not even be aware that he or she is assuming an aura that of a god’s. Untouchable. All-knowing. High-brow. Holier-than-thou. Better than anybody. Or the best among the best.

In a workplace, for example, a new employee comes in and labor to prove his worth. He makes it and becomes the head of the veterans. Not a welcomed idea. The golden-agers shows their godlike persona by being indifferent, by trying anything to distract or destruct, by not cooperating.

Sounds frustrating. Of course. The newcomer may or may not be affected but proving his worth is a harder task than dealing with the veterans. That is how he should think about the whole scenario. The gods must be crazy not to notice that the newcomer is an asset not someone who will destroy them.
