Last night, we watched Easy A. I am just so lazy now to tell you the story, so here is a recap from the website:
In this charming, critically acclaimed tale of rumors and reputation, Olive (Emma Stone), an average high school student, sees her below-the-radar existence turn around overnight once she decides to use the school’s gossip grapevine to advance her social standing. Now her classmates (Amanda Bynes, Aly Michalka) are turning against her and the school board is becoming concerned, including her favorite teacher (Thomas Haden Church) and the distracted Guidance Counselor (Lisa Kudrow). With the support of her hilariously idiosyncratic parents (Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson) and a little help from a long time crush (Penn Badgley), Olive attempts to take on her notorious new identity and crush the rumor mill once and for all.
Yes, the comedy movie is about how dangerous gossips can be. Although the main character seems not bothered at all by the hideous schemes of her holier-than-thou schoolmates portrayed by Amanda Bynes and Aly Michalka, it did not cross her mind that the rumors will one day reach a height that will sway her demeanor.
As said, never underestimate the power of envy and jealousy. It will always be applicable in this survival.
But I enjoyed the movie. How cool are the parents of Olive Penderghast. Wonder if parents can be as cool as that. It made me ask myself if I can be like that – cool and quirky.
Try watching the movie. Emma Stone is one good actress.
