I was listening to the radio while Winnie and Ariel of DZMM discuss the benefits of eating at home. I find it very interesting and the discussion is surely an eye opener for me who had always argued with Papsie about eating out.
The first reason why we should choose to eat at home is that it is healthier. They say when you eat out, one cannot control, for example, the salt and sugar content of your food. When you are at home and you know that you are diabetic, you will limit the amount of sugar, or when you are hypertensive, you can control the amount of salt you put in your dish.
Second, it is cheaper. This is one reason Papsie will like very much. The foremost reason he does not want to eat out is the cost of the food in the menu. I have learned to understand that the underlying reason, too, is that he knows how to cook, he knows how much the food will cost if he buys the ingredients and cooks them. There was even a time that he actually calculated and discovered that the food costs thrice as much as the cost if he buys the ingredients and cooks them.
The last reason is that eating at home enhances one’s creativity. One reason, too, why those food in those restos are expensive is because we also pay for the hard work they put on the presentation. But we can also be creative and not spend a single centavo on the presentation.
Pretty interesting info, don’t you agree?

Eating at home also encourages interaction among family members and it enhances good relationship. Happy New Year!
Great food pics Bingskee!
I totally agree with you and my husband agrees with Papsie especially about knowing how much sugar and salt goes into your food. Nag-aaway din kami… but the only reason I like eating out is because I hate washing dishes.
Yes, it sure is interesting but for working people or students like me, I feel that there’s just no time for me to cook my own food hence the eating out came into play. Pero, it’s still better to eat at home; cost-saving and healthier.
Definitely eating at home gives you more satisfaction and you can control the ingredients
With those trans fats in fast foods it is a little scary
We still eat outside quite a bit because my wife is lazy to cook hehe
Happy New Year, Bingskee!
True, there are more benefits from eating at home than at some resto. Sarap naman ng ham sa first pic. hehehe.
whooo, sarap naman ng mga pagkain na nasa pictures!
If those homecooked foods are as good as they look, then I’d rather eat home too than paying double /triple in a restaurant for similar fare. It’s nice to eat out once in a while, tho’ just for a change of scene ikanga.
tama ka doon, noypetes. pero sana naman, wish ko lang, pagbigyan din ako ni papsie na kumain kami sa labas at wag nang isipin pa ang gastos. minsan lang naman iyon at saka it’s a nice experience to bond with the family eating out at the same time.
happy new year, nico. we always do that. am just thinking of a different setting. who knows if that experience could add to the closeness?
maligayang bagong taon din sa iyo at sa iyong pamilya, rommel. ang kaso, di lang naman kami dadalawa.
hi, toe! pareho kasi silang marunong magluto. ha ha ha natawa naman ako sa reason ha ha
you save money and it’s healthier. true ka dyan, kyels.
hmmm… sounds like it’s the same as toe’s reason, bw – LAZINESS!
happy new year, rhodora. it was one of the handa last new year. how come i cannot access your site?
they’re as good as they look, gina. i should know, handa namin yan nung bagong taon he he yun nga ang concern ni papsie di lang doble ang presyo, higit pa sa doble!
the first reason why I always want to eat out is that I am lazy to cook. Another, I don’t know how to cook so I end up cooking the same meal over and over gain. And yet another, I sometimes do not have the time to cook. If we don’t eat out, we buy ready-to-eat meals from the supermarket.
but i know that if we seldom eat out say only during special occasions, we can save money. and yes, it is a lot more healthier. this is could be a great new year’s resolution for me. thanks.
Eating out once in a while can also be good for the family especially for the kids. I’m no longer part of the group called kids, but i still like eating out.
OT: Congrats on the new domain!
Argh! Ginutom ako sa mga food pics!
ha ha member ka pala ng lazy to cook club, evi! you can truly save a lot by limiting the number of times you eat out. am not telling you to stop he he but try to limit and learn to cook.
thank you, jeff. napansin ko nga talagang mas interesado ang mga kids to eat out. the experience probably is wonderful for them.
lalo na pag naamoy mo, connie.
